The topic I'd like to see represented in a keynote at ISTE 2010 is...

Teacher(s) In The Trenches

What is missing from too many education conferences are examples of teachers who effectively accomplish exactly what the conference is promoting. Teachers and administrators just might connect with a teacher or teacherS sharing effective pedagogy using the new tools of learning so attendees get a clear picture of exactly what all this looks like.

Knowclue - Hadn't thought of it that way ... maybe the title could be changed if it makes the cut?

Love the idea, but would suggest that we move away from the war metaphor as language defines us. Wanting to truly be a 21C educator, I no longer think of myself as battling in the "trenches" but rather as creating and innovating in the "sandbox".

Yes, I think this could be a combination of the wow factor of what is possible (and actually happening, not just theory) and seeing what it looks like. Many don't get it until they see it ... you kind of have to smack them between the eyes. Would make the point to teachers and administrators (and others too).

It is my belief, as it is yours, that we truly need more authentic teaching from authentic "in the classroom" teachers. I do learn from non-teachers -- but I am inspired and humbled by in the classroom teachers.
Hope this topic catches on -- it is a good one.
